Kyler had a Thanksgiving Feast at his school. Only 3 of the kindergarten classes did the feast (I think there are 8 or 9 classes). I was glad his class was one that did the feast. He tried things he wouldn't normally try! In fact, he came home later and told me he wished he could have more cranberry sauce! What!!!!??!?!?!?! This is my kid that hates dried fruit.

The kids got to choose whether they wanted to be a pilgrim or Native American. Kyler wanted to be a pilgrim because they are the group that got to take a big boat ride on the Mayflower. He also got to watch
This is America, Charlie Brown at school before the feast. He came home and I found it on YouTube so we could all watch it. There aren't very many kid friendly Thanksgiving movies. There are tons of Halloween and Christmas ones, but not Thanksgiving. This was the first time I've been able to volunteer for something at Kyler's school. I really want to be in his classroom, but I have to find childcare for Azure. That's been hard, since we're still getting to know the ward. Trevor was home during Kyler's feast, so I left Azure with him and got to enjoy helping a little.

This is the swing I made Azure. Kyler noticed I've been making a lot for Azure, but not him. I told him that her things have been smaller and easier with me being pregnant, but I will get to work on his desk as soon as this baby is born and big enough for me to start doing wood projects again. This swing was tricky because I had to make my own pattern and determine angles. I felt like it turned out pretty well, though.

Thanksgiving Day! I know, our feast looks pitiful. I couldn't really spend too much time on my feet. I was swelling really bad earlier in the week and the doctor told me to stay off my feet as much as possible. I never had this problem with the other two, so it's been hard to sit down so much. I marinated ribs on Wednesday so I would only have to make the Pecan Pie and Potatoes on Thanksgiving. I broke down and bought rolls (which I never do anymore). It was still incredibly yummy. I think this was my best Pecan Pie. I only bake it once a year, so I'm getting better.

We traditionally put up the tree over Thanksgiving break because after Thanksgiving is usually Trevor's busy time until after finals week. He has papers to grade, students to deal with, and finals to prep for. The kids loved helping put the ornaments on the tree.

Azure wasn't so sure at first, but decided it was fun to try to get the ornament on the tree. You can see the cluster of John Deere ornaments in this one spot. Kyler wanted to put up every tractor ornament we have, but I convinced him to let Azure do some because she wanted to put some up, too.

After we put the big tree up, the kids get the off limits speech and decorate their tiny tree. They get this tiny tree all to themselves.

We give them free reign to decorate, redecorate, and play with the ornaments for that tree. Then, they leave the big tree alone (for the most part - it does have some enticing bell ornaments that they can occasionally jingle).

Here are the two finished trees. I love Azure's outfit. It is adorable. I was so happy we had a black long sleeve shirt to put under the short sleeve one so she can wear this during the winter.

Trevor's family also had a tradition of making gingerbread houses the day after Thanksgiving. Kyler got a gingerbread train and Azure a gingerbread house this year.

Azure was so funny about putting candy on her house. She was concentrating so hard and following patterns. She can be such a focused little girl.

Here is Azure's finished product! Trevor put on the icing and helped with the decorating, but she did a ton of the decorating.

Kyler told me where to put icing and did all his decorating. I didn't even make suggestions. He did it how he wanted. He did a great job.

Trevor loves to wrestle with the kids. They don't always like to wrestle, but Kyler is getting more into it. With Trevor home for a bunch of the week, they had ample opportunities to wrestle. Trevor likes to tell the kids that the person who wins the match (the person who doesn't say they give up) gets to choose the treat, movie, gets individual playtime with daddy, and so forth. He had given Kyler a particularly enticing motivation for winning during this match (I think it was more playtime). I've never seen Kyler try so hard to win. He grabbed Trevor's hair and pulled, for a long time. He finally resorted to yanking on occasion, so Trevor gave up. Boys! I can't see how they can be so brutal to each other sometimes. But, we love them anyway ;)
